Fun Flying

PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE

You’ve stared up at passing planes since you were a little kid. You had (have) “flying dreams”. Always wondering what it would feel like to fly but felt that this dream was too big to ever come true. Now, you found CFC and are thinking about taking your first step towards your flying dream.

At Canadian Flight Centre, we have trained over 3000 students, for whom flying is no longer just a dream, but a reality. Is the course extremely difficult? No. It is challenging, but if you apply yourself, and do your homework, you’ll soon be soaring over fields, hills, lakes and playgrounds, where – just maybe – a 5-year-old future pilot will look up and stare as you fly by.

Tailwheel

Some say, this is where the real flying is… Whether it is true or not, flying a tailwheel plane expands your flying horizons and is a lot of fun! An almost must-do for commercial pilots, very much recommended for everyone! Learning to fly a tail wheel aircraft can be one of the most enjoyable and challenging experiences available to general aviation pilots. CFC has both American Champion Citabria and Super Decathlon aircraft. Go ahead and practice those stick and rudder skills. From circuits to advanced airwork, or even landing on a beach. If you dare.

AEROBATICS

Put the world upside down! Nothing will sharpen your piloting skills more than getting control of a powerful plane in all imaginable flight configurations.
Are you up for the challenge? Start your aerobatic training now!
For loops, rolls and hammerheads, Canadian Flight Centre utilizes the 2009 Super Decathlon. Whether you are interested in learning the basics or going as far as a regional aerobatic competition (or more?), CFC instructors can help you.

Night

Experience flying in a whole new light. Twilight and evening hours are some of the most beautiful times to be in the air. And after all, only being qualified to fly during the day means you’re missing out on half the fun. This course will teach you everything you need to know to safely enjoy flying after dark. Learn how take-off’s and landings are different in the dark, prepare to deal with emergencies, enjoy a whole new world of flying.

YOUR FIRST LESSON

Your familiarization flight, or what we refer to as your “fam flight” is your first chance to actually take control of an aircraft!
You will start by following along as your instructor does the preflight inspection and pre-takeoff checklists. Then, from the pilot’s seat, you will enjoy the pilot’s eye view of takeoff (or even perform the take-off yourself), monitoring all radio communications through your radio headset.

Sightseeing

Nothing beats the breathtaking aerial view of the mighty Pacific ocean and snow-covered mountain tops.
If you have an out-of-province visit, want to give an awesome gift to someone you love or simply have a fabulous day for yourself, a scenic tour is your best option.

Charter

CFC offers charter transportation. That means we can take you to the most remote areas of the province while you are finishing your morning coffee! Chilko Lake from Vancouver in less than two hours or Victoria in 20 minutes? Not a problem!

FLYING COMPANION

This one-day ground-school-only course covers topics such as how the airplane flies, reading an aeronautical chart, talking on the radio; interpreting instruments, what to do in an emergency, safety tips, weather, and more… so you can enjoy flying and be a better flying companion. Advance registration required – contact us!

You will discover that sharing the workload even on a regular trip can be very much fun. But the peace of mind of being able to handle an emergency is truly priceless. The cost includes lunch and all materials.

Optionally: a couple of flights with an experienced flight instructor will boost your confidence in being able to perform a landing you and your passengers will walk away from.

Note: this training is included if you are doing Private Pilot License
