FAA Licenses Conversion

This is a short summary of requirements. Official and detailed version can be found on the Transport Canada website HERE.

FAA PPL into Canadian PPL

  • Canadian Medical, category 3 or higher
  • PSTAR test, min 90%. Preparation can be found on Academy.cfc.aero
  • 5 take-offs and 5 landings in the last 6 months preceding the application
  • Min 45h total flight time, 12h solo, 5h instrument tine, 3h dual cross-country, 5h solo cross-country
  • If you don't want the license to be based on a foreign license, you need to complete the Private Pilot Written Exam. Preparation for the exam can be found here: Academy.cfc.aero or contact us for further help

FAA CPL into Canadian CPL

  • Canadian Medical, category 1
  • Min 200h total flight time, 100h PIC, 25h instrument tine, 8h dual cross-country, 25h solo cross-country, 5h solo night, 5h dual night
  • Complete the Commercial Pilot Written Exam. Preparation for the exam can be found here: Academy.cfc.aero or contact us for further help
  • Complete the Commercial Pilot Flight Test. Preparation for the flight test is offered through Canadian Flight Centre - Boundary Bay or Kamloops
